As a first-generation Nigerian-Canadian and a Registered Social Worker in Alberta and Ontario, Silifat brings a unique and valuable perspective to her practice as a mental health therapist. With over a decade of experience, she has worked with diverse populations, including adults, youth, children, families, communities, and individuals with developmental and mental disabilities, helping them navigate various challenges and achieve their fullest potential. Silifat is fluent in English and Yoruba, which allows her to connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Silifat specializes in anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, marital stress, parent-teen relationships, grief and loss, and racial and cultural identity. Her approach incorporates solution-focused therapy and is grounded in Trauma-Informed Practice, bringing a culturally sensitive, narrative-based, and strengths-focused methodology to her therapy sessions.
Silifat's unwavering dedication to social justice, anti-oppressive practice, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment for her clients is not just a part of her work, but a guiding principle that fuels her every day.
Silifat is a proud member of the Alberta College of Social Workers and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She holds a Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, and a Diploma in Social Work from MacEwan University.
When she's not in her professional role, Silifat cherishes spending quality time with her husband and four children, exploring new destinations, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. These personal interests not only bring balance to her life but also make her more relatable and approachable to her clients.
