My name is Silifat, and my work as a mental health therapist is rooted in a lifelong commitment to supporting people through some of their most vulnerable and transformative moments. As a Registered Social Worker with more than a decade of experience, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside adults, youth, children, families, and communities as they navigate challenges, rediscover their strengths, and move toward healing and growth.
My path into this work has always been guided by a deep belief in people’s resilience. Over the years, I’ve supported individuals living with anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief, identity-related stress, and major life transitions. I’ve also worked closely with families experiencing conflict, couples facing relational strain, and individuals with developmental and mental disabilities. Each person I meet brings a unique story, and I consider it an honour to be trusted with those stories.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Trauma-Informed Practice and shaped by solution-focused, narrative, and strengths-based perspectives. I believe that healing happens when people feel safe, respected, and understood, so I work intentionally to create a space where clients can show up as their full selves, without judgment, without pressure, and without having to explain or defend their identities or lived experiences. As a culturally sensitive practitioner, I hold space for the complexities of racial, cultural, and intergenerational identity, and I approach every session with humility, curiosity, and compassion.
Social justice and anti-oppressive practice are not just professional values for me; they are personal commitments. They shape how I show up, how I listen, and how I advocate. I strive to ensure that every client feels empowered, affirmed, and supported in ways that honour their dignity and autonomy. My professional journey includes a Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, and a Diploma in Social Work from MacEwan University. I am a proud member of both the Alberta College of Social Workers and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Outside of my work, I am deeply grounded by my family. I cherish time with my husband and our four children, whether we’re exploring new destinations together or trying out new recipes in the kitchen. These moments bring balance to my life and remind me of the importance of connection, joy, and presence; values I carry with me into my work with clients.
At my core, I am someone who believes in people’s capacity to heal, to grow, and to reclaim their stories. If you choose to work with me, you can expect a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive space where your experiences are honoured and your voice matters.
