10-Week Group Program for Immigrant Muslim Women

Our culturally sensitive and supportive program is meticulously designed to help Muslim immigrant women navigate settlement challenges, strengthen identity, foster healthy relationships, and build community connections. Each week, we provide a safe and respectful environment that combines discussion, skills-building, and most importantly, peer support. This fosters a sense of belonging and community, ensuring that every participant feels secure and respected. The group will run online, weekly for 10 weeks, with a waitlist of 8 to 12 participants. You can choose any day that works best for you, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.


Our journey begins in Week 1 with a warm welcome and group orientation, setting the stage for the transformative weeks ahead.

10 Week Group Program for Parents Who Have CFS Involvement

Our program provides a supportive and non-judgmental group environment for parents currently engaged with children's services. We focus on practical skills, including strengthening parenting skills, understanding the child welfare process, managing stress, and building healthy family dynamics. Participants gain tools to improve communication, self-advocacy, and resilience while connecting with others who share similar experiences. The group will run online, weekly for 10 weeks, with a waitlist of 8 to 12 participants. You can choose any day that works best for you, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, because we understand the demands of parenting and want to accommodate your schedule.


Week 1: Introduction and Group Building

Objectives:

  • Build trust and rapport among group members.
  • Establish group guidelines and confidentiality.
  • Set personal goals
  • Introduce basic stress management.

Week 2: Understanding Children's Services

Objectives:

  • Understand the child welfare system and processes.
  • Clarify the roles of caseworkers and legal reps.
  • Address fears and misconceptions.

Week 3: Parenting Skills Enhancement I

Objectives:

  • Improve communication with children.
  • Practice active listening
  • Manage challenging behaviours with empathy.

Week 4: Parenting Skills Enhancement II

Objectives:

  • Set consistent boundaries and routines.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through reinforcement.
  • Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Week 5: Emotional Regulation and Stress Management

Objectives:

  • Identify personal stress triggers.
  • Learn mindfulness and relaxation exercises.
  • Develop anger and frustration management techniques.

Week 6: Building Resilience and Self-Care

Objectives:

  • Understand resilience
  • Develop personalized self-care plans.
  • Learn strategies to maintain well-being.

Week 7: Navigating Legal and Advocacy Skills

Objectives:

  • Understand parental rights
  • Develop communication skills with caseworkers/legal reps.
  • Build advocacy and self-empowerment skills.

Week 8: Strengthening Family Dynamics

Objectives:

  • Improve co-parenting relationships
  • Develop conflict resolution skills.
  • Build healthy family routines. 

Week 9: Preparing for Reunification and Future Planning

Objectives:

  • Set realistic goals for reunification/stability.
  • Plan ongoing support and resources.
  • Identify community support.

Week 10: Reflection and Moving Forward

Objectives:

  • Reflect on progress and challenges.
  • Celebrate achievements
  • Create a personal action plan.
